Installation

Install 1AIVault, understand where the vault lives, and confirm the app is ready.

Download the macOS, Windows, or Linux build from the pricing and downloads page. The app creates its local vault on first launch.

Vault Location

The desktop app stores the database in the user data directory for your platform. In the current app, the Settings and MCP status surfaces show the exact database path.

Common paths are:

PlatformTypical path
macOS and Linux~/.1aivault/vault.db
Windows%APPDATA%\1AIVault\vault.db

First Launch Checklist

  1. Open 1AIVault.
  2. Confirm the Dashboard loads.
  3. Open Settings -> Data and note the vault location.
  4. Open Collect and run a scan for local AI tools.
  5. Open Connection -> Install MCP before testing any AI client reads.

What Runs Locally

1AIVault reads local tool history, writes to SQLite, and serves MCP from the same vault. Topic classification can use Ollama locally or MCP-connected AI tools, depending on the workflow you choose.
