Topic digests

A living summary of everything a topic knows, in one place.

Topic detail showing digest controls and Reclassify.
Overview

What Topic digests does

A digest distills every entry in a topic into a single running summary of where that area of work stands now. Instead of scrolling dozens of conversations across sources, you read one condensed account — viewable as rendered Markdown or raw text, and editable by hand when the automatic summary misses a detail you care about.

Digests are also how connected AI clients answer questions like "what do I know about feature X?" — the same summary is available over MCP. When new entries join a topic the digest goes stale, so a refresh regenerates it and a reclassify rebuilds it, keeping the summary honest as the work evolves.

Why it matters

The payoff for your AI memory

The gist without the scroll

A digest condenses conversations from every source into one readable account of where a topic stands right now.

Yours to edit

View the digest as Markdown or raw text and correct it directly when the automatic summary gets something wrong.

Stays current

Refresh regenerates the digest after new entries land, and reclassify rebuilds it when a topic has changed shape.

How it works

From first launch to reusable memory

  1. 1

Open a topic to read its digest as rendered Markdown or raw text.

  2. 2

Edit the raw digest directly when you want to fix or add detail.

  3. 3

Refresh the digest after new conversations join the topic.

  4. 4

Reclassify the topic when its shape has changed enough to warrant a rebuild.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I get a summary of my AI conversations by topic?

Yes. Each topic carries a digest that summarizes every entry assigned to it, and connected AI clients can pull the same digest through the vault's MCP tools.

How do I keep a topic summary up to date?

Use Refresh to regenerate the digest after new entries arrive, or reclassify the topic to rebuild the summary when the underlying work has shifted.
