File and folder context

Point a chat turn at real files and folders on disk, four ways.

Overview

What File and folder context does

File and folder context brings your working directory into the conversation. Drag a file onto the composer, paste a path, type one, or use the picker, and 1AIVault resolves it into a stable reference for the turn. Folders come along too, so you can point a question at a whole directory instead of copying files in by hand.

Resolved paths attach as context the model can reason over, and when a turn is routed to a local agent, the workspace path scopes where that CLI runs. Because references resolve to real locations on disk rather than one-off pastes, the context stays consistent across turns — the same file keeps pointing to the same place as the conversation continues.

Why it matters

The payoff for your AI memory

Add context four ways

Drop, paste, type, or pick a path; whichever is fastest, 1AIVault turns it into an attachment for the turn.

Whole folders, not just files

Point a turn at a directory so the model or routed agent works against real project structure instead of scattered snippets.

Stable references

Paths resolve to fixed on-disk locations, so attached context stays consistent as the conversation and any agent runs continue.

How it works

From first launch to reusable memory

  1. 1

Drag a file or folder onto the composer, or paste or type its path.

  2. 2

Or use the picker to select a path from disk.

  3. 3

Confirm the resolved reference appears as context for the turn.

  4. 4

Send, and the model or routed agent uses that file or folder.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I add a file to a chat turn?

Drop it on the composer, paste or type its path, or use the file picker. 1AIVault resolves any of these into a stable context reference for the turn.

Can I give a whole folder as context?

Yes. Folder paths resolve alongside files and also scope the workspace directory that a routed local agent runs in for that conversation.
